Well the closing date for entries was the beginning of last month, so seeing as I haven't heard back from them, it's probably safe to assume I can post this now
So - this was my entry into the Mercury Music Awards design competition - the brief being to have a crack at a piece of art, to be used as the front cover for the mercury music awards compilation cd, inspired or influenced by "music" - my covering blurb went like this:
"Hey – you – what’s that’s sound? Good music should be able to move you within a few bars – when you first hear that melody, when you make out THAT riff, when you first catch a whisper of the baseline – hearing good music should be head turning, attention grabbing, a drop-everything-and-listen-to-this moment, a moment of elation, a moment of ecstasy – a moment you hope will never end. The Mercury Music Award celebrates the best of British music – my piece celebrates that celebration..."
Rather pretentious, but then these art types like that kind of thing don't they? And it is kinda true of my intentions, even if I wouldn't put it like that in everyday conversation
Finally, Eagle eyed amongst you will spot that the figure bears a certain resemblance to the figure(s) here --> [link] - by association then, I'd best point out that the figure is based off a lovely shot in 's gallery here --> [link] - do check her out
This is for the memories. Love.
I love the art piece, and can't wait to have it.
The title pretty much describes a part of me.
