Ey up - back from Bristol and back to the humdrum of life - still, it was a cool weekend and always great to hang out with my mates, and make a few more contacts into the process - hello to all the new people I met that have found me on here!

Now if only i could learn to bottle the creative energy from these weekends to use when I'm back working the full time job eh? :)

Time to update the ol' journal again, and might as well take the opportunity to mention about The Bristol Comics Convention '08 on 10th & 11th May while i'm at it - despite being even more underprepared than last year, me and the motly crew will be sharing a table again and umm...well the way things are going, we'll probably be using it as a glorified bench for most of the weekend - but who knows, maybe we'll scrape somthing together by curtain up! :D

So if any of these galleries peak your interest:

:iconll::iconauxiliaryoverdrive::iconteamsmithy: :iconzak29: :icongarrettart:

come over and see us to say hi - I assure you we're all fully house trained and I'm sure if you ask nicely you can wangle a sketch or two from a couple of us :)

Meanwhile the to do list isn't getting any shorter:

:bulletred: update cgsketchbook.com with shiny newness
:bulletred: get on with more portfolio pieces
:bulletred: Contacting potential clients dagnabbit!
:bulletred: Get Bristol Convention table sketchbook organised and printed
:bulletred: Get the convention table organised

The UK Webcomics thing

  • Mood: Zeal
  • Listening to: Duffy - Mercy!
  • Reading: my new tennency agreement
  • Watching: A flickery TV
  • Playing: at living independently

Cripes, end of March already and bugger all to show for it on my page! ^__^

Will try and correct that at some point, but meantime I wanted to mention that I'll be milling around at this on Saturday: [link]

I'm not exhibiting, just shuffling around with a portfolio tucked under my arm, but it's more an excersise to see all the pretty and get energized about my own stuff again (still just 1 page of P.A.W drawn, for those keeping score!) Any of you London based folks who end up going, hope to see you there :)

And to pad this out a little, the To Do list:

:bulletred:update cgsketchbook.com with more lovely stuff
:bulletred:Get that portfolio in shape (it's looking a little flabby)
:bulletred:Get on with contacting potential clients already!
:bulletred:Do some more to P.A.W
:bulletred:Start organising Bristol Convention table and accomodation
:bulletred:SUBMIT SOMTHING TO DA FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!

  • Mood: Welcoming
  • Listening to: Chemical Brothers - Push the Button
  • Reading: the script for P.A.W#1
  • Playing: Flash games
  • Eating: Onion Rings
In case this sort of thing interests you, I have a website now - go check out CGsketchbook.com and see...well, pretty much everything you've already seen in this gallery - only now with swishy web 2.0 transition effects! Classy! :excited:

In other news, for those that don't watch the scraps at least - I started the ball rollling on drawing that P.A.W #1 thing I may have mentioned once or twice - you know how I tend not to bang on about this sort of thing... ;P

Well, page 1's all penciled up at least... only another 14 to go - I get the feeling my resolution to have it all done for the Bristol Convention in May is a little unlikely given the procrastination fueled glacial pace I work at, but we'll see how we go - watch this space I guess! :D

The Year In Links '07

Sheesh - what a year its been round LL towers!

As my first proper year of employment in the big scary world of work, it wasnt exactly a runaway success, but we can only hope it's just the first faltering steps and not the start of a spectacular nosedive... >__>

Well, let's start off with some good things - Love Pollution is still doing unfathomably well in the favs stakes, clocking over 1000 favs in February, and at time of hitting the send button, it's about 50 favs shy of hitting the 2000 mark - which is crazy silly. I have actually stopped thanking people personally for the favs, as it halves the time it takes me to get through messgaes, so let me just take the opportuniy to thank you all again very muchly for the support - means a lot :)

What else? Well I guess the big positives were that P.A.W: Protection Against Wrongdoers finally launched to mild praise (which is far better than I could have hoped for! Cheers you guys ;P ), me and the guys had a pretty good first year at our table at the Bristol Comics Convention, I'm now a proper published artist (:w00t: ) and I've so far managed to survive for a whole year at my design job without offending anybody terribly ( as far as I know! O__o; )

Of course a lot of that positiveness is overshadowed for me by the less good bits of '07, most notably coming down with Glandular Fever and the whole debaucle of my agency - I had hoped to start the year fresh and free of the whole thing, but it seems like it'll be hanging around like a bad smell for a few weeks yet.

Part of me is absolutely terrified that I've completely shot myself in the foot and that I'll never work in this town again, and part of me just wants to just strive onward and file it under "teething troubles" - learn from it, move on and hunt down my own commissions (my rates are reasonable - note me! I don't bite - honest! ^__^ )

I guess we'll check back next year and see which one turns out to be right eh? :)

Anyways, all that's left for me to do is make with the obligatory resolutions:

:bulletred:Complete and launch portfolio site
:bulletred:Bolster that portfolio so its a bit more robust (who knows, might even submit some of it here!)
:bulletred:Get out there and get some commissions under my belt (a new agency wouldn't hurt either >__> )
:bulletred:Finish chapter 1 of P.A.W. in time for Bristol Convention (May), and upload on website by year's end! O__o;;
:bulletred:Build on the success of the table at the Bristol Convention
:bulletred:Update P.A.W website once in a blue moon
:bulletred:SUBMIT MORE TO DA DAGNABBIT! >__<

Here's to a (hopefully) great '08 for us all! :w00t:
